A native of the Caribbean island of Haiti, Jean-Luc is the founder of Jean-Luc Torchon Design Studio and a collaborator at Coburn Construction Management in New York City. He received a Bachelor of Architecture degree at the Spitzer School of Architecture at the City College of New York CUNY, and has over 15 years of combined experience in architecture, design and construction management.
Jean-Luc honed his skills at several prominent architecture firms in Manhattan and Brooklyn, with a focus on high-end residential projects spanning building typologies common in New York City and surrounding suburbs such as lofts, townhouses, pre-war apartments, and free-standing houses, with a particular focus on historic landmarked properties.
In 2018, Jean-Luc began collaborating with Christopher Coburn and Yuliya Ilizarov of Coburn Construction Management to offer both design and construction services. He believes that good design requires thoughtful detailing and construction, and enjoys both working with other architects and design professionals and engaging clients from design through construction.
